Google Tells Gemini AI Plus Members They Lose Pro Models on November 13

Google has begun emailing Gemini AI Plus members with a blunt message. Their subscription will soon stop including the advanced models. Only Flash will remain.

A Change Announced Earlier This Month

Google announced the change to Gemini’s subscription model earlier this month. The news arrived just before the new Argon model went live. Argon is now the high-performance offer in Gemini.

The company made one point clear. Gemini 4 Argon would be included for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. It also said AI Plus members would lose access to AI Pro entirely.

What the Email Says

According to one user on Reddit, Google has started notifying AI Plus subscribers. The email says Gemini Pro models will leave the AI Plus tier on November 13. After that date, the email lists Flash-Lite and Flash as the only two options.

The message explains the change in plain terms. From November 13, 2026, selecting Pro models will be possible only for Google AI Pro subscribers and above. This applies to both the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search. Subscribers keep the latest Flash-Lite model and Flash, which Google describes as built for speed and intelligence.

Chats that used a Pro model are not lost. Users can continue them with a different model. The email also reminds readers that they can manage or cancel a subscription at any time. It closes with thanks from the Google One team.

A couple of other users report getting the same email. Their reports pin down the exact timing of the Gemini AI Plus change.

A Wider Gap Between the Tiers

The $4.99 per month plan will now offer just two models. Meanwhile, the $19.99 per month tier gains access to Argon. As a result, a bigger gap opens between the two.

Google is still keeping the free plan. That plan leaves everyone with access to Flash-Lite.

Why the Cheap Plan Mattered

These subscriptions tie into Google Workspace for cloud storage and other perks, such as YouTube Premium. Even so, the $4.99 plan looked like a good deal. It suited people who wanted more capable models for more than passive chats. That appeal now fades.
