Apple HomeView Out-of-Warranty Repair Costs $279, Nearly Matching Retail Price
Apple’s official United States storefront has published the official repair pricing for its newly unveiled HomeView smart home hub. Without an active AppleCare protection plan, the out-of-warranty service fee for “Other Damage” stands at $279. Notably, this figure nearly equals the device’s $299 full retail price. Conversely, customers covered by an AppleCare plan pay a flat $39 service deductible for accidental damage.
Launch Timeline and Retail Pricing
Apple officially introduced the 7-inch HomeView smart display yesterday on October 13. Pre-orders are currently open across the United States and other initial launch markets ahead of the scheduled November 13 shipping date. Furthermore, both the standard tabletop configuration and the wall-mounted variant carry an identical retail price of $299.
Flat-Rate Repair Structure and AppleCare Deductibles
According to Apple’s official support documentation, the company does not currently itemize HomeView repairs by specific hardware failures, such as a cracked display or a faulty speaker assembly. Instead, all physical repairs fall under a single, unified “Other Damage” service tier. Consequently, whether a user owns the tabletop model or the wall-mounted edition, an uncovered out-of-warranty repair costs $279. This fee sits just $20 below the cost of a brand-new unit, representing approximately 93% of the full retail price.
Meanwhile, subscribers enrolled in AppleCare benefit from a standardized $39 service fee for accidental damage claims. Similarly, this reduced deductible applies universally across both the tabletop and wall-mounted models, regardless of the specific nature of the physical damage.
