iPhone Duo Jailbreak Success on Launch Day

The cybersecurity firm Calif.io made a significant announcement recently. They published a compelling demonstration video on the X platform. This video showcased a remarkable achievement in mobile security. Remarkably, they successfully executed an iPhone Duo jailbreak on the iOS 27.1 system. They accomplished this feat on the very first day Apple’s inaugural foldable device went on sale.

Demonstrating the Exploit’s Capabilities

To vividly illustrate the results of this exploit, Calif engineered a striking visual display. They implemented an interface effect completely distinct from the conventional operating system. An animated character materialized in the lower-right corner of the screen. Furthermore, the developers manipulated the device’s internal sensors. This modification caused the desktop application icons to behave like physical building blocks. The icons dynamically slid and bounced across the display, reacting organically to the device’s physical angle and movement.

Building on Previous Security Research

Regarding device exploitation, earlier reports highlighted a previous milestone. On October 16, during the Hexacon offensive security conference in Paris, Calif.io presented another breakthrough. They publicly demonstrated a “perfect jailbreak” on an iPhone 18 Pro model running the iOS 27.0.1 system. Crucially, this specific exploit maintained its ultimate administrative privileges even after a system reboot. However, current sources have not clarified a key detail regarding the latest demonstration. It remains uncertain whether this new iPhone Duo exploit possesses the same persistent capability to retain its jailbroken state following a restart.

Future Availability and Proof of Concept

Stefan Esser, a prominent security researcher based in California, provided additional context. He informed the German technology website Heise about the future of this exploit. He explicitly stated that developers will not release a polished jailbreak tool intended for “end-users” at this time. Nevertheless, he suggested that the security community might eventually see the publication of a proof-of-concept version.
