Trump Sparks SI Domain Registration Surge in Slovenia
The Rise of Super Intelligence
Slovenia’s national domain registry recently noticed an unprecedented digital trend. United States President Donald Trump wants to rename Artificial Intelligence (AI) to “Super Intelligence” (SI). Consequently, this political push likely triggered a massive spike in Slovenian domain registrations. Coincidentally, the official internet country code for Slovenia is .si.
Register.si spokesperson Klara Herman shared some staggering statistics regarding this phenomenon. Users registered a remarkable 44,000 new .si domains in September. In stark contrast, August saw fewer than 2,000 registrations. Therefore, this represents an explosive growth of over 2,100 percent. Compared to the previous twelve months, late September witnessed truly unprecedented registration volumes.
The UN General Assembly Speech
Trump originally proposed this terminology change during a major global address. He spoke at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 11. He argued that the word “artificial” sounds inherently fake. Furthermore, he emphasized that this technology is definitely real and absolutely astonishing. He advised caution while welcoming everyone to the new world of Super Intelligence.
Domain Speculation and Investment
Herman acknowledged that September’s registration numbers significantly exceeded all other months. However, she remains cautious about attributing this entire surge solely to political remarks. Interestingly, a recent BBC report details this SI domain registration surge. The publication notes that users registered 11,000 new .si domains on September 30 alone.
Industry experts point to domain speculation as a primary driver for these numbers. Speculators often register specific domains early to capitalize on future value. They gamble that these digital assets will appreciate significantly before selling them for a profit. For instance, renowned investor Rick Schwartz famously bought the men.com domain for 15,000 dollars in 1997. Seven years later, he successfully flipped it for an astounding 1.32 million dollars.
Official Executive Action
On September 29, Trump convened a high-level meeting with numerous technology executives. He proudly described the event as an extraordinary gathering of industry leaders. Moreover, he praised the attendees as the visionary builders of a new American golden age. Shortly afterward, he signed a sweeping executive order to enforce his new terminology.
This bold mandate requires all federal departments and agencies to adopt the term SI. Consequently, they must completely abandon the traditional AI designation immediately. The strict order mandates that all official documents, websites, reports, and communication materials use Super Intelligence instead of Artificial Intelligence.
