According to Windows Latest, Microsoft Windows chief Pavan Davuluri added the classic Windows XP game 3D Pinball to his consideration list. During a recent episode of the Inside Windows podcast, the host highlighted a popular user proposal. This user eagerly wanted to bring back the beloved retro title. Davuluri enthusiastically responded, calling it a truly fantastic suggestion.
Microsoft Acknowledges the Demand
He elaborated on the gaming culture surrounding the operating system. Users clearly love gaming on Windows. The company possesses a tremendously rich library of titles on the platform. These games range from simple casual experiences to massive AAA blockbusters. Historically, Windows maintained a strong track record of pre-installing enjoyable games. Furthermore, executives have received numerous requests specifically regarding 3D Pinball. Therefore, the team will definitely keep this iconic title on their radar.
No Official Confirmation Yet
However, Davuluri did not explicitly confirm any active development. Moreover, he did not guarantee a native Windows 11 3D Pinball release. Microsoft last included the game directly within the operating system during the Windows XP era.
The Original Compatibility Bug
Previously, Microsoft explained the unfortunate reason behind its eventual removal. When the engineering team ported Windows XP to a 64-bit architecture, they discovered a critical collision detection bug. Specifically, the virtual pinball would phase completely through solid environmental objects. Consequently, these severe compatibility issues forced the company to abandon the iconic game.
